After
the chapter agrees to sponsor this event it is essential to obtain the rectors
approval and to get it on the parish calendar. Select someone who is capable and
willing to be chairman. He need not be a member of the chapter although members
of the chapter should probably be on the working Committee. A date at least 3
months after the decision to do this is desirable in order to get early publicity
started. The following checklist of things
to be done should be helpful: Location: If some location other
than the parish is selected be sure to make a reservation. If parish facilities
are to be used be sure they are available on the date selected. Line
up program. This can be a secular program with an emphasis on sports. A speaker
from the fellowship of Christian Athletes would be good. A program with some sort
of contest might be good to build father/son relations. Give out simple prizes. Select
menu and price. Publicity: Start publicity about two months
ahead. Use all possible kinds in the parish. Work with Church School teachers
and Youth group leaders. Tickets: Sell tickets starting about
one month ahead (mimeographed tickets will do). Telephone Contacts:
Have Brotherhood members telephone prospective people. Get a list of names from
the rector, Membership Chairman or parish office. Provide Name
Badges. Handouts: Provide a low cost favor, or
handout if possible. The Brotherhood National Office may be able to make some
suggestions if you write them. Clean up: Be sure to arrange
for cleanup |
